первое, всем знакомое значение - выстрел, стрелять. Но оно не единственное и, пожалуй, не главное. Еще shoot означает - фотографировать или снимать кино (это слышишь на каждом шагу). Если по смыслу от вас ждут ответа, то "Shoot!" будет означать "Говори!". Если же говорящий выражает удивление или разочарование, то "Shoot!" - просто более социально приемлемая замена восклицания (*)"Shit!"(*)

Shoot up (to) — ввести наркотик (уколоться). Такая инъекция называется - shot, а места (типа грязных скверов и задних дворов) где подобные действия совершаются коллективно (вместе ширяются), называются shooting gallery. Их легко опознать - там всегда шприцы валяются, обертки всякие, иглы. Если вы попали в такое место случайно, валите оттуда по быстрому. Отдельные американские наркоманы имеют неприятную привычку убивать за три доллара. Более безопасны подобные места в Канаде, хотя мы не можем гарантировать, что у вас не уведут там кошелек или, хуже, что вам там не пригрозят иголкой со свежей кровью (зараженность СПИДом в этой среде повальная).
Если кому интересно, вот как их найти в Ванкувере. Идите от даунтауна по East Hastings, как увидите, что мусора стало прибывать, так там сразу скверик налево. Не перепутаете, он вечный, тронуть наркоманов пытались, но не вышло - слишком много защитников их прав (они же бедные, да еще в массе своей индейцы).Shot — если перейти от наркоманов к более близким нам пьяницам, это что-то типа нашего "мерзавчика": маленький стаканчик виски, выпиваемый залпом (один бульк, на глоток).
